The annual “Clean Up the World” campaign serves as an important occasion to promote community-driven environmental activities, enhance the effectiveness of environmental protection efforts, and call on individuals, organizations, and communities to take practical actions to reduce the burden on nature and the environment while adapting to climate change.

The organizers present environmentally friendly products to members of the Women’s Union.

On September 22, in Thanh Tri District, the Hanoi Women’s Union launched the program “Capital Women Join Hands in Waste Sorting and Waste Treatment.”

This meaningful activity was selected by the Hanoi Women’s Union as part of its response to the 2024 “Clean Up the World” campaign, aiming to continue environmental sanitation efforts and support recovery after the recent Typhoon No. 3.

Recognizing the vital role and responsibility of the Women’s Union and every woman in the capital in fulfilling the city’s political tasks, the Union has, over the years, actively implemented new, innovative, and effective models to support environmental protection. These efforts are closely tied to the campaigns “Building Families of Five Nos, Three Cleans” and “Capital Women Practice Beautiful Behavior.”

The Union has prioritized and invested in various practical and creative models for household waste sorting and treatment, attracting strong participation from members and women across the city, along with support from local communities and authorities. A notable example is the model “Exchanging Recyclables to Preserve Green Spaces and Raise Charity Funds,” implemented by 100% of local chapters, generating additional resources for social welfare activities at the grassroots level.

The “Capital Women Join Hands in Waste Sorting and Waste Treatment Day” aims to further promote public awareness and mobilize officials, members, and residents to actively support the 2024 “Clean Up the World” campaign. It also seeks to expand effective waste-sorting and waste-treatment initiatives across all levels of the Women’s Union—particularly in the context of citywide environmental cleanup efforts following floods, following the guideline “clean wherever the water recedes” to restore normal life and prevent disease outbreaks.

As part of the program, the Hanoi Women’s Union also organized a conference titled “Training on Household Waste Sorting and Treatment,” with the participation of nearly 400 women representing communities across the capital.
