On September 22 in Hanoi, the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), in coordination with the Thanh Tri District People’s Committee, launched an event in response to the 2024 “Clean Up the World” campaign.

Delivering the opening remarks, Mr. Vu Minh Ly, Deputy Director of the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication, stated that in recent years, the climate has been changing faster and more dramatically due to human activities, which have increased greenhouse-gas emissions and accelerated global warming, triggering a series of disturbances in natural ecosystems.
In Vietnam, Typhoon Yagi (Storm No. 3) recently caused severe devastation and heavy losses across many localities, particularly in Hanoi. This situation underscores the urgent need for strong efforts and coordinated responses from all nations, as well as close cooperation within communities.
In recent years, Hanoi has consistently taken proactive measures to protect the environment, develop environmental protection strategies, enhance climate-change adaptation, and implement synchronized solutions to ensure that socio-economic activities are carried out in a sustainable and environmentally responsible manner.
To build on the progress achieved in responding to the “Clean Up the World” campaign, the Center for Natural Resources and Environment Communication, in collaboration with the Thanh Tri District People’s Committee, has organized today’s activities. The event continues to promote community-driven initiatives such as environmental cleanups, tree planting, and the restoration and improvement of the environment in urban areas, residential zones, and surrounding regions—particularly lakes, rivers, canals, and streams.
Through the “Clean Up the World” campaign, the aim is to further strengthen communication, outreach, and environmental education in training programs, thereby raising public awareness, responsibility, and engagement in environmental protection, waste sorting at source, reducing waste generation, and enhancing recycling efforts across the community.

Launching the campaign, Mr. Nguyen Huy Toan, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Tri District People’s Committee, called on the entire community to embrace sustainable, greener, and cleaner lifestyles during the 2024 “Clean Up the World” campaign. He urged people to take concrete and practical actions to protect the environment, including enhancing cleanup efforts, promoting tree planting activities, reducing plastic waste, recycling, sorting solid waste at source, and implementing circular economy models.
During the launch event, delegates, mobilized forces, and volunteers participated in three key activities: an environmental cleanup and waste collection drive; tree planting around Chu Van An Park; and a cycling parade themed “Green Journey – Together for Environmental Protection.”
The parade aimed to spread the message of reducing emissions and combating climate change, covering a route of approximately 5.4 kilometers, starting at Chu Van An Park and ending at the memorial project square.
