The LEGO Group has announced plans to expand its use of renewable energy, aiming for a 72% increase in global solar power capacity this year.
✔ Achieve net-zero emissions by 2050
✔ Reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 37% by 2032
☀ Construct 38 MWp of new solar installations, increasing current capacity by 72%
☀ Triple the solar capacity at the Nyíregyháza factory in Hungary with new ground-mounted and rooftop systems
☀ Install more than 12,400 rooftop solar panels at the new LEGO factory in Vietnam
● The LEGO Group is also developing an 80 MWp solar park in Billund, Denmark, expected to be completed in 2028.
This solar park will supply the entire energy demand of LEGO’s headquarters in Billund.
● LEGO Group has begun tying part of its employee bonus structure to emissions-reduction performance, using a new KPI that measures carbon output from factories, retail stores, offices, and Scope 3 emissions (including business travel).
● The company aims to expand this KPI to cover a wider range of Scope 3 emission sources.
