Quảng Ngãi partners with HDF Energy to develop green hydrogen and renewable energy projects

On September 17, the Department of Industry and Trade of Quảng Ngãi Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HDF Energy to promote the development of green hydrogen and renewable energy projects in the province.

HDF Energy is a global leader in large-scale hydrogen infrastructure and high-power fuel cell production. The MoU was signed by Võ Văn Rân, Director of the Quảng Ngãi Department of Industry and Trade, and Mathieu Geze, HDF Energy’s Asia Regional Director, witnessed by Trần Phước Hiền, Vice Chairman of the Quảng Ngãi Provincial People’s Committee; Jean-Noël de Charentenay, Deputy CEO of HDF Energy; and Damien Havard, Chairman and CEO of HDF Energy.

Collaboration to accelerate green hydrogen and renewable projects

Under the agreement, HDF Energy and the Quảng Ngãi Department of Industry and Trade will work together to facilitate the development of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects. The partnership focuses on studying the integration of HDF’s advanced technologies, including:

• HyPower (Gas-to-Power) – generating electricity from hydrogen

• Renewstable® (Power-to-Power) – fuel cell-based clean energy storage and generation

These technologies aim to supply clean electricity to the national grid and large industrial consumers such as chemical plants, petrochemical facilities, and steel manufacturers.

Quảng Ngãi – a prime location for green hydrogen production

With the Dung Quất Economic Zone, home to an oil refinery, deep-sea port, and well-developed infrastructure, Quảng Ngãi is considered an ideal location for producing green hydrogen–based power or advanced fuel cells using HDF Energy’s technology. This is expected to enhance efficiency and strengthen the sustainability of the province’s energy system.

Green hydrogen – a development priority for Quảng Ngãi

According to Director Võ Văn Rân, Quảng Ngãi possesses significant potential for renewable energy development and industrial infrastructure:

“Green hydrogen is a priority for Quảng Ngãi’s near-term development, especially in remote, rural and island areas. We hope to build effective partnerships with investors and developers possessing advanced technologies like HDF Energy to bring hydrogen projects to the province.”
