The seminar “Sustainable Development – Toward Net Zero in the Construction Industry” at VIBE Expo 2024

Within the framework of the Interior & Construction Exhibition – VIBE 2024, taking place from October 2 to October 5 at the SECC Exhibition and Convention Center (799 Nguyễn Văn Linh, Tân Phú Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City), the Organizing Committee, in collaboration with ConsMedia Construction Communications JSC and Net Zero Vietnam JSC (NetZero.VN), will host the seminar “Sustainable Development – Advancing Toward Net Zero in the Construction Industry.”

At the COP26 Conference at the end of 2021, Vietnam made an international climate commitment to develop and implement strong measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions using its own resources, together with cooperation and support from the international community—especially developed countries—in terms of finance and technology transfer, including implementing mechanisms under the Paris Agreement, to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

According to scientific reports, the construction sector contributes up to 40% of energy-related and process-related emissions. This highlights the risks and responsibilities of the industry in addressing climate change. “Green building” is a comprehensive concept involving resource efficiency, waste recycling, and the application of advanced scientific methods to minimize environmental impacts. Unlike traditional construction, green construction integrates sustainability goals, reduces energy and water consumption, and therefore lowers carbon emissions.

For Vietnam, moving toward Net Zero is not only a mandate but also an opportunity for sustainable development. Applying new technologies and developing environmentally friendly green materials will help reduce environmental impacts and optimize resource use. Future trends will focus on developing sustainable, green, smart, and climate-adaptive urban areas in parallel with industrialization and modernization.
